Goals and assists
Dundee Stars picked up their second win of the week, and fifth point
in three games, with a 4-2 road win in Guildford over the Flames,
pulling themselves back up into the top five of the league.
In a
game that had four penalties in the opening 10 minutes, it was some
surprise that it was an even-strength goal that opened the scoring at
the Spectrum. The Stars broke 3-on-1 and took the lead through Drydn Dow
off a passing play involving him, Anthony Rinaldi and Carter Johnson.
Guildford
levelled 2:16 into period two with Patrick Bajkov finishing high off a
good Ryan Hughes pass across the face of Kevin Carr's crease. However,
exactly 60 seconds later the visitors were back in front with Ryan
Valentini given too much space to pick his spot in the top corner of
Eamon McAdam's net. 43 seconds before the period was over, the Stars
made the most of a Mike Crocock minor for covering the puck when Elijah
Vilio slapped past a sprawling McAdam off a good pass by Josh Brittain.
Tait
brought the Flames back to within one 2:17 into the third with a
rebound after a Ben O'Connor shot was blocked while the hosts skated
5-on-3, but the home side found it hard to generate good chances on
Carr's net after that.
The Stars blocked shots and got sticks in
lanes in front of their goalie to keep the home side out, and after Ben
O'Connor's shot hit a body in the final stages, Spencer Naas skated away
to slot into the empty net and settle the game with 61 seconds to play.
