Goals and assists
Dundee Stars got the win they needed to book their place in the 2024
Playoffs, and they did it on the road in front of a sold-out Fife Ice
Arena. The result saw the Stars go above the Flyers in the final
standings.
Having lost out to the Flyers on home ice the night
before, the Stars wasted no time in getting into a lead. Ryan Valentini
opened the scoring at 2:19 after Spencer Haas wormed his way through the
Flyers’ defence to get through on Owen who made the initial stop.
An
odd-man rush saw Anthony Rinaldi let an excellent wrist shot fly into
the top corner of Owen's net to double the visitors' lead 4:09 into
period two. 3:13 before the the buzzer, Rinaldi broke down the wing and
deked Owen to make it 3-0.
On an evening where the Flyers
struggled to generate much offense, and when they did Lucas Brine was at
times unplayable, it took a penalty shot awarded for the young Stars
goalie throwing his stick to break his shutout - Troy Lajeunesse
converted with 15:06 to play in the final period to make it a two-goal
game.
Fife pulled Owen for the extra skate with 1:57 to play, but
Brendan Harms settled the game on the empty net 50 seconds later to book
his team's place in the post-season.
