Goals and assists
Fife Flyers ended their eight-game losing run with an excellent 4-1 win over second-placed Cardiff Devils on Sunday evening.
Coming
off the back of a battling defeat in Sheffield the night before, Fife
came out hard and took the lead early. Ben Bowns spilled a Collin
Shirley shot and Max Humitz was on hand to put the puck home at the back
post with 3:32 played. Casey Gilling then doubled the lead at 14:52
when he beat Bowns short side with the Devils goalie screen by two
bodies in front of him.
Ben Davies halved the arrears for the
Devils 13 minutes into period too, but a terrible giveaway in their own
end allowed Shirley to finish off Teemu Pulkkinen's feed on the
39-minute mark and keep the Flyers two up after 40 minutes.
Any
hopes the visitors had of a comeback in the final period were dashed
five minutes into the third. While Stephan Desrocher sat a Holding
minor, Brady Pouteau sent Kyle Osterberg through on a breakaway to score
shorthanded and put the Flyers 4-1 ahead. The Devils had a late goal
washed out for a crease violation as they slipped to their second defeat
of the week.
