Cardiff Devils stayed fourth with a three-goal win over Dundee Stars at a sold-out Vindico Arena.
The hosts raced into a three-goal lead in the opening period. Josh Batch's shot from the point went through a two-player screen to beat Kevin Carr low with 4:14 played, before the Devils scored two in 68 seconds to take control. Joey Martin shot high from the top of the circle to convert at 11:53 on a powerplay, with Justin Crandall tipping a Cody Donaghey shot at 13:01 to make it 3-0.
Dundee's fightback started when Anthony Rinaldi was left unmarked in front of Ben Bowns at 19:40, and then 10 seconds into period two James Phelan got a tip on a Chris McKay shot to make it a one-goal game.
Another quick spurt from the home side tipped the game back in their favour, however. Ben Davies fed Tyler Busch across the crease for the 4-2 goal ay 31:41, followed 71 seconds later by James Arniel scoring the Devils' fifth. Carter Johnson pulled another back for the Stars 14 seconds later.
Bode Wild and then Crandall, on the empty net, scored with side of another Johnson goal in the third period the give a final scoreline of 7-4.
