Dundee Stars extended the gap on the teams below them with a 5-1 win over Nottingham Panthers on Sunday night.
The league's top point scorer, Ryan Valentini, had Dundee ahead with the only goal of period one, neatly toe-dragging in the slot before firing high past Mike Robinson with 16:25 played.
The EIHL's top goal scorer, Spencer Naas, then doubled that advantage when he reacted quickest to a rebound off a Kris Inglis shot 5:59 into period two, not long after Robinson had taken an accidental collision with an on-rushing forward. Hugo Roy got on his own rebound to put the Panthers on the board at 28:40, but Naas put the Stars back two ahead with a one-timer off a Valentini feed at 37:50.
Jonathan McBean converted a Craig Garrigan pass out into the slot to make it 4-1 at 52:27, while Anthony Rinaldi beat Robinson blocker side with 1:38 left to round off an excellent night for the hosts.
