ife Flyers put themselves into a three-way tie for third place, beating Manchester 2-1 in an exciting game in Kirkcaldy. The win saw them go level on points with the Storm, and Cardiff Devils.
In what was a tight but very entertaining game, the opening goal went the way of the visitors. Neat hands from Johnny Corneil saw him get into the offensive zone and feed Michael Koral to beat Shane Owen with 17:19 played, to the delight of the large Storm away following. The Flyers were worthy of their equaliser early in period two. A diving play from Troy Lajeunesse allowed Teemu Pulkkinen to break forward and set up Colin Shirley for the finish past Evan Weninger to tie the game 3:04 into the second. Some six minutes later the home side took the lead - Johan Eriksson looked to be setting upa play in the corner but instead threw the puck out to an unmarked Pulkkinen in the slot who beat Weninger high with a well-taken wrist shot.
Period three was not short of chances either, with Shane Owen denying the Storm an equaliser on several occasions, and the Flyers hitting the crossbar as they looked to extend their lead. In the final stages, Weninger was pulled for the extra skater and the Flyers narrowly missed finding the empty netter, but held on for the one-goal win, their fourth successive victory.
