The Giants took control of things in the opening period, racing into a 2-0 and then 3-1 lead before the first intermission. Spencer Naas pulled one back for the Stars at 11:03, but Travis Brown netted in front at 15:21 to put the Giants back two ahead.

Any hopes the Stars had of getting back into things in the middle period were dealt a blow just 28 seconds after the restart through David Goodwin, although Chris McKay did bring the visitors back to two behind at 30:44.

Final period goals from McLeod at 52:30, and then Cameron Pound 34 seconds before the end, eanted the Giants a 6-2 win.
