Goals and assists
Guildford Flames ended a run of six straight losses against the last
team they'd beaten before that streak began - Coventry Blaze.
A
lot of the damage in this Challenge Cup fixture was done in the opening
period. Ben O'Connor fired home a one-timer from the point during a
5-on-3 advantage for the hosts with 12:50 played, and at 15:05 Logan
Fredericks capitalised on a mistake by the Blaze in their own zone to
double the lead.
Kobe Roth got the Blaze back into things 72
seconds into period two, but Brian Lemos restored the two-goal advantage
some six minutes later. Ian McNulty tipped a Brady Norrish shot past
Eamon McAdam on the 31-minute mark to keep Coventry just a goal behind,
but when Fredericks got on another bad bounce and slotted past Nolan
Kent the Flames were back two up.
Peter Crinella slapped home an Alex Yuill pass 60 seconds into period three for what was the game's final goal.
