Goals and assists
Dundee Stars made it a three-point weekend with a shootout win over
local rivals Fife Flyers on Sunday night, their second game of the
weekend that past 60 minutes.
Unlike in Belfast on Saturday, this
was a much lower-scoring affair. The Stars led twice on the night, going
ahead initially 6:36 into the opening period – Shane Owen stopped Drydn
Dow’s initial shot, but Domenico Alberga put the rebound home from an
angle.
Fife levelled at 16:49 when Patrick Kyle's excellent pass fed Austin Farley for an easy tap-in with Jarrett Fiske stranded.
Kameron
Kielly put the Stars back ahead at 32:29 with the finish in front from a
Ben O'Connor feed coming from behind Owen's net. Again the Flyers
levelled, and again it was Farley - this time off a spinning pass from
Phelix Martineau with just under 15 minutes to play in the third period.
The
Flyers came close to winning the game late with a goal line clearance
stopping them going ahead, and then Michael Cichy thinking he’d won it
only for the goal to be wiped off for a high stick – upheld by video
review. Shane Owen pulled off a fine last-ditch save to ensure the
Flyers earned a point.
Neither side managed a goal in an
end-to-end overtime period, and so things were decided in a shootout. No
shooters found the back of either net through the first three rounds
until Jake Elmer beat Owen. Johnny Curran hit straight back for the
Flyers, only for Keanu Yamamoto to hit the target in round five. Maxim
Musorov fanning on the puck saw the Stars take the extra point.
