Game recap

Glasgow Clan logged their first win of the season, and first under Corey Neilson, with an 8-5 win over Scottish rivals Fife Flyers.

There was a lot to digest in the opening period which produced six goals before the first buzzer. Glasgow went ahead with only eight seconds on the clock as Cole Ully got on the end of Devon Sideroff’s no-look pass across the crease. Steven Seigo doubled the lead at 8:11, before Ully was on the board again when he picked up a loose puck and was allowed enough time and space to pick his spot past Shane Owen.

Fife were on the board thanks to Michael Cichy on a loose puck in front while the Flyers skated 5-on-3. Phelix Martineau cut the deficit to one at 18:11, but Ully made it a hat trick 18 seconds before the period was out to put Clan 4-2 ahead.

Gary Haden dispatched Seigo’s pass in front to make it 5-2 3:13 into period two, although the Flyers hit back with some silky hands form Lucas Chiodo some five minutes later – a contender for goal of the week!

Joe Hazeldine, and then a Cade Neilson bat out of the air put the Clan's total up to seven by 47:29, although the Flyers weren't done Tyler Heidt got them onto four at 49:50, and then Drake Pilon brought the hosts back to within two with 7:16 left on the clock. Clan had a goal washed out for goalie interference after Tom Coolen challenged the on-ice call.

Owen was pulled with 2:11 to play as the Flyers chased down the two-goal deficit, but barely 10 seconds had passed before Sideroff had the puck into the empty net to round off the win.
