Goals and assists
Glasgow Clan got their second straight Cup victory with a 5-4 over
Dundee Stars on Tayside. Former Star Lucas Brine backstopped the Clan to
the win in his second start of the season.
"I
thought we played great for 55 minutes, and then at the end there I
don't know if we were just tired or maybe tried to do a bit much but we
let it get away from us a bit but it was a great win" said the Clan
goalie post-game.
Brett Gravelle opened the
scoring just shy of six minutes into the game with Jake Elmer setting up
Brett Gravelle at the far post for a high finish past Brine. Clan were
level at 9:51 off a Liam Finlay point shot that he scooped into the
corner of Richard Sabol’s net.
Keaton Jamieson
was the beneficiary of a fortunate bounce and then calmly beat Sabol to
put Clan ahead 2:59 into period two, before Finlay doubled the lead at
35:19 when he backhanded home in front off Rylan Schwartz' throw to the
front of the net from below the goal line.
As
things seemed to be slowly ticking down to a Clan victory in the final
period, there was a flurry of scoring with five goals in as many
minutes. Gary Haden put the Clan three ahead at 55:45 in the slot, but
Domenico Alberga pulled one back 33 seconds later to keep things a
two-goal game. Deven Sideroff then responded 11 seconds after to make it
5-2, while Jonathan McBean was left all alone in the slot to score 29
seconds later and make it 3-5 – and still with 3:02 to play.
Alberga
nicely set up Zach Tsekos for a back-post finish to make it 4-5 with
the empty net at 59:10, but that was as close as the Stars could get,
leaving Clan with a road win that ended a little more uncomfortably than
it perhaps should have been.
“Obviously I've
always loved Dundee, they were great to me last year, and I'm sure some
people aren't too happy about it, but I'm pretty happy to get a win
here” added Brine on his team’s win.
