Goals and assists
Guildford Flames logged their third win in four nights with a 5-3 home win over Glasgow Clan.
Guildford
started strong, scoring just 24 seconds into the game. Jake Jacome gave
them the early lead off a rebound after Matt Alvaro's shot was saved
well by Landon Bow's left pad.
Clan absorbed a lot of early
Flames pressure but gradually worked there way back into things and only
ended one down after the first 20 minutes.
The visitors hit the
ground running in period two and it was no surprise when they levelled.
Cole Ully got the equaliser on the powerplay seven seconds past the
30-minute mark of the game when he swept home a rebound in the slot. 127
seconds later, Liam Finlay snuck a one-timer through Eamon McAdam's
five-hole from a sharp angle to put Clan ahead.
Ethan Strang
dangled in from the wing and beat Bow with a backhand shot low to tie
the game 3:39 into period three. The hosts then took the lead with a
Charlie Curti shot from below the goal line that bounced off a Clan
defenseman and then beat Bow five-hole at 49:57. Ryan Tait hit the post
as the Flames broke on a late 2-on-1, but the puck broke to Charlie
Dodero who fired past Bow to give the Flames a two-goal cushion with
2:47 to play.
"We just went back to what makes us successful,"
said Matt Alvaro of the Flames' turnaround. "We were turning pucks over
too easily so we went back to getting pucks in behind them and back to
what we do well."
Deven Sideroff pulled Clan back to within one
with 1:54 to go to set up a tense finish, but Alvaro found the empty net
with 58 seconds remaining to ensure the Flames secured the two points -
their third win of the week.
"We're going in a good direction
right now," added Alvaro. "We're thrilled with his this week went but we
know we have to keep building on it. We can get better, that's the big
thing. Everyone has been stepping up while we're missing some bodies and
I'm proud of how everyone has stuck together."
