Goals and assists
Glasgow Clan made it back-to-back four-point weekends with a 4-3 home
win over Dundee Stars, scoring the game-winner with just over five
minutes to go.
Dundee, who came into this fixture after suffering
two defeats the previous weekend, had an ideal start as they opened the
scoring early at 03:26. Drydn Dow sent a cross-crease pass intended for
the stick of Jake Elmer, however, the puck deflected off of a sprawling
Clan defender and past Landon Bow.
The Clan equalised at 11:00,
with Cole Ully scoring his second goal of the weekend. A solo effort
from the Canadian saw him take the puck over the blue line and send a
wrist shot past the glove of Richard Sabol.
Ully scored his
second of the game at 17:07, deflecting a shot from Reece Kelly past the
Stars’ netminder to give his team their first lead of the evening and
send the game into the first intermission 2-1.
Clan spent the
first half of the second period in control, limiting the Stars to just
two shots on goal within this time. Despite this, the visitors managed
to score the equaliser with Brett Gravelle finding the back of the net. A
turnover in Clan’s zone allowed Philippe Sanche to get a shot on goal,
and although Bow made the initial save the puck fell to Gravelle who put
it home at 30:21.
A slashing penalty against Glasgow gave Dundee
their first powerplay of the evening, which Brendan Harms took full
advantage of as he regained the lead for the Stars at 37:50. A shot from
the left wing by Jake Elmer found its way to the net, which Harms sent
between the pads of Bow to make it 3-2.
Dundee managed to keep
Glasgow at bay for the majority of the third period, limiting the Clan’s
scoring attempts as they looked to maintain the lead.
Felix Pare
scored the equaliser at 50:09, as he found himself alone in front of
the crease and tipped an innocent-looking shot from Deven Sideroff past
Richard Sabol to make it 3-3.
Glasgow remained on the offense,
which paid off when Tyson McLellan scored the go-ahead goal and eventual
game-winner. Cole Ully sent the puck toward the net, where McLellan was
waiting to redirect it past Sabol at 54:41.
The Stars pulled
Sabol in the closing stages of the game, but some misplaced passing cut
their pressure on Bow's net short. Glasgow held on for the one-goal win.
