Cardiff Devils responded to a home defeat by Manchester Storm with a road win in Fife over the Flyers on Sunday night.
"It was a good game, a little back and fourth. We went up three nothing but Fife came back at us," said Evan Mosey who scored two for the Devils. "It's one of those games where you can't take your foot of the gas because they can come back at you. We had to come in and do our jobs, and that's what we did."
Three goals in the opening period put the Devils in control in Kirkcaldy as the Devils took a commanding lead through 20 minutes. Joey Martin converted Josh MacDonald's cross-zone pass with two minutes played to open the scoring, followed by Bradley Schoonbaert getting on a rebound on the turn at 7:28. Evan Mosey one-timed MacDonald's pass from below the goal line high into Shane Owen's net to make it 3-0 at 14:57.
Daniel Krenželok, playing as a forward in the second period, was played through by Jonas Emmerdahl and beat Ben Bowns to get the Flyers on the board with 2:40 left in the middle frame. However, Kohen Olischefski was left alone in the slot to beat Owen with 33 seconds remaining in the period to put the Devils back three ahead.
Olischefski was provider for Sole Sanford's excellent wrist shot at 43:20 that made it 6-1, although Massimo Carozza pulled another back for the Flyers three minutes later. Mosey's second of the night made it a 6-2 scoreline with 60 seconds remaining.
"It's always nice to score, but the win was the most important thing," added Mosey. "It's been an up and down season so far, so any chance we can get a road win is big,"
