The first stage of Division 1 is played in 6 regional divisions (A-F). After the Christmas break the top teams qualify for AllEttan North, Center or South consisting of 8 teams in each.The remaining teams continue in the Division 1 A-F.
The top teams will play qualification stages against teams from HockeyAllsvenskan for promotion.
The bottom teams will play teams from Division 2 to avoid relegation.
Division 1 is the third level league in Sweden.
Division 1 was the premier league in Sweden 1941-1975.
Between 1975 and 1999 Division 1 was the second league in Sweden.
Västervik and Södertälje promoted
Västervik and Södertälje have secured promotion to HockeyAllsvenskan, the Swedish second league. Relegated to HockeyEttan were Asplöven and Sundsvall.

Vita Hästen from Norrköping has won promotion from Division 1 to HockeyAllsvenskan, the second level of Swedish ice hockey.
Troja-Ljungby are relegated after losing the decising game 3-0 to Björklöven.

Jonathan Ericsson of Detroit Red Wings is the first NHL lock-out player to sign with a team in Division 1, the Swedish third league. He will join Vita Hästen, the club he represented as a junior, October 17.
