The regular season consisted in games between the SC Dynamo Berlin (former club of
Eisbären Berlin) and the SG Dynamo Weißwasser (Lausitzer Füchse).
It was decided by the DDR government in 1970, that only two clubs (SC Dynamo Berlin &
SG Dynamo Weißwasser) were supposed to play competitive hockey in the DDR.
All other teams were kicked out of the league in 1970.
The DDR-Oberliga was the elite hockey league in Eastern Germany between 1949
until reunification in 1990.
