A full round was played in Elitserien today. Here is a short summary on what happened.
Djurgården - Frölunda 2-3 OTIt was a crazy game. Frölunda had three goals disallowed in the first two periods. Marcus Nilson had 37 penalty minutes after being furious after two bad hits by Frölunda's Jari Tolsa. The first sent out Jimmie Ölvestad with a concussion the other one sent Daniel Tjärnqvist out of the game with an unknown injury. After the second tackle Nilson was sent out with a match penalty for striking at one of the linesmen. In the third period Frölunda got some allowed goals and Magnus Kahnberg made it 2-1 to the guests in his first game after several months of absence. But Djurgården came back and tied the after pulling the goalie. In overtime Mathis Olimb scored the game winner for Frölunda with only 28 seconds left.
Växjö - Timrå 2-1Växjö won their third straight game and is unbeaten under 2012. Timrå did another good away game but didn't get any points. WJC star Max Friberg had a shot in the crossbar in the second period but Erik Josefsson got the game winner for Växjö when he picked up a rebound on a delayed penalty call.
Färjestad - MoDo 1-2A good first period with good special teams was enought for an important win for MoDo who still are missing several defenders due to injury. A shorthanded goal by Madsen and a power play goal Pöck gave MoDo 2-0 in the first. And even if they had 44 shots on goal Färjestad didn't manage to come back from that as Mikael Tellqvist made 43 saves.
Luleå - Brynäs 1-3Brynäs is still leading Elitserien after beating Luleå 3-1 on away ice. Calle Järnkrok was a big hero scoring all three goals, Jakob Silverberg assisted on them all. Niklas Svedberg made 39 saves.
Skellefteå - Linköping 3-1Harald Lückner lost also his second game as coach for Linköping. Skellefteå had 1-0 after the first and completly dominated the second and went up to three 3-0. Linköping has huge problems with their goal scoring but at least managed to score one goal in the third. Skellefteå is still in second place. Last year's top scored Joakim Lindström scored the 2-0 goal. His first goal returning from Colorado.
HV71 - AIK 2-3 SOHV71 came back from being down 0-2 after two goals from Johan Lindström. The second goal scored with an extra attacker with just 63 seconds left of the third period. But AIK still got away with a win for two points when Andreas Andersson made a mistake with only six seconds left of the overtime. Josh MacNevin was the goal scorer when the puck just crossed the goalline.
