17 Jan 2012 | Fredrik Pålsson
Lørenskog will lose six points and Sparta three points for not paying transfers fees on time.
Lørenskog and Sparta Sarpsborg of the Norwegian GET Ligaen are both being penalized for using players that were not eligible to play as their transfer fees weren't payed on time.
For Lørenskog it's about James Sixsmith and two goalkeepers. Lørenskog will now lose the games against Storhamar (Dec 30) and Stjernen (Jan 3) 0-5. As Lørenskog won those both games they will now lose valuable points in top of the table. The club also lost six points in a similar case last year.
For Sparta Sarpsborg it was Marcus Olsson whose transfer weren't payed in time when he played against Rosenborg (Dec 30) and Vålerenga (Jan 5). The results in these games will be 0-5 and 0-6. As Sparta already lost to Vålerenga the club will lose three points.
Lørenskog will drop from second to fourth place while Sparta will go down from fifth to sixth. Stavanger leads the league, 18 points ahead of Vålerenga in second.
Teams have 14 days to appeal against the decision.
