PLH - round 32 review

20 Jan 2012 | Kamil Przegendza

There were 4 matches played in the 32nd round of the Polish Ice Hockey league. The maximum amount of goals in a game was 7 so it wasn’t a round rich of goals. Winning teams have not scored more than four goals.

JKH Jastrzębie – Aksam Unia 3:4 (1:0, 2:4, 0:0)

Players of stronger JKH were playing good in the first period and scored the first goal just 69 seconds after the match started. Later in the first period teams were playing very similar hockey and the score didn’t change. In the second period players of Unia were playing very good hockey and they scored 3 goals in 5 minutes. 2 minutes later JKH started to cut the lead and scored 2 goals in 3 minutes to tie the game. Unia had scored the last
goal of the match in the 38th minute and till the end of the regular time they were playing defensive hockey and didn't allow another goal so they won.

KH Sanok – Cracovia Kraków 2:1 (1:0, 1:0, 0:1)

Sanok’s players (currently leading the league) were playing very good hockey from the beginning till the end of the match. In two periods they scored 2 goals (1 in each period). In the third period Carcovia was trying to score and they did it in the 47th minute. Till the end of the third period Cracovia was trying to score the drawing goal, but it was harder than they thought and at last leader team Sanok has added 3 points to advantage between them and second placed Cracovia.

MMKS Podhale – GKS Tychy 0:1 (0:0, 0:1, 0:0)

This was the weakest of Thursday’s matches. It had absolutely no emotions. GKS Tychy was playing average hockey, but still much better than Podhale. They gave 41 shots on the opponents goal but only one travelled into the net. The home goalie was playing a strong match and GKS wasn’t able to score more goals during the 60 minutes.

KH Toruń – Zagłębie Sosnowiec 3:4 SO (2:0, 0:2, 1:1, 0:0, p.1:2)

It a was very exciting match which needed the shootout to say who is better. The away team  was attacking Toruns goal from the very first minute, but Plaskiewicz was playing an ideal match so that the home team had the chance to score 2 goals after fast counters (first in double power play). In the second period Plaskiewicz at least had to let through one goal In the 23rd minute. Later in the end of this period players from Sosnowiec had scored the equalizer. In the third period both teams had scored 1 goal each so that the score was tied. In overtime Plaskiewicz had been doing wonders in his goal and he gave his team the chance to go into the shootout. Zagłębie was more effective there and they’ve won it after six rounds of penalty shots.
