Recap of Friday’s NLA games
21 Jan 2012 | Dennis Mende
Rapperswil with the only surprise against Lugano while the other three favourites won.
SC Bern - ZSC Lions 3:2In Bern the ZSC Lions failed again to get more points between them and the non-playoff zone. The lead for Bern came in a very strange way. After only 25 seconds guest goalie Lukas Flüeler stood next to his goal and while trying to get the puck away he lost it and DuMont had no problem to get it over the line. In the 24th minute Flüeler had to let another one through, this time by Vermin whose back hander went under his pads. Two minutes later Zürich cut the lead to one when McCarthy tried it from the blue line (26.) Still in the mittle period it was Ritchie who made it 3-1 with an amazing solo. He received the puck at the blue line, went through two defenders and hammered the puck into the net with his backhander. With seven minutes left Ambühl scored the second goal for the ZSC Lions but they couldn't change the result in a more positive way.
Rapperswil-Jona Lakers - HC Lugano 4:2Bottom club Rapperswil-Jona Lakers had far better results in the past weeks and now found another victim in HC Lugano. After one of the hosts players had to give up his wrap around try, it was Gmür who hammered the puck over the goal line after three minutes. Ten minutes later it was Adrian Wichser who extended the lead when he used Luganos goalie as board from behind the goal. With three minutes left in the period Roest made the result even more comfortable for the Lakers. Around "half time" Brady Murray scored the first one for Lugano, followed by a goal from McLean (46.). In the last minutes the Lakers dended well and even scored the 4-2 with an empty-netter.
HC Ambrì-Piotta - Kloten Flyers 0:3In a rather boring game Kloten had no problem to win away against Ambrì-Piotta. Walser opened the score for the guests after only four minutes of play. Despite wasting good chances the lead flor Kloten never was really in danger and so Lininger could score the 0-2 after 32 minutes. With seven minutes left on the clock Nylander made the final result perfect.
SCL Tigers - Fribourg-Gottéron 2:5After a goalless first period the second 20 minutes became decisive between the SCL Tigers and Fribourg-Gottéron. The hosts, in desperate need for points to make the playoffs, came back twice by goals from McLean and Moggi after Bykov and Afanasenkov had brought Fribourg in front. After 35 minutes Gamache scored the 3-2 for Fribourg, a lead they didn't give up until the end of the match. Early in the last period Dubé increased the lead to two goals and in the final minute of play Julien Sprunger made the 5-2.
