Genève-Servette HC and EHC Biel put HC Lugano and the ZSC Lions - both with one game less - under pressure with important wins. Davos wins in Fribourg-Gottéron. Zug loses against Bern but stays first in the NLA table.
Fribourg-Gottéron - HC Davos 1:4In the BCF-Arena, sold out with 6800 spectators, Dario Bürgler opened the score for Davos in the 11th minute. The home fans had to wait until the 27th minute when Afanasenkov tied the game in a 5 on 3 power play. Only six minutes later it was Sciaroni who brought Davos back in front with a rather rare goal. Petr Sykora's shot came back from the boards and from there it fell in front of the goal so that Sciaroni only had to get the puck into the empty net. When Bürgler scored his second goal of the day after a rebound (48.) of a shot on goal by Beat Foster the game was more or less decided. With 43 seconds left Marha was allowed to add another goal to the guest's win with an empty-net try.
EV Zug - SC Bern 4:5 SOIn the other top game of the day Bern had a comfortable lead after the first period after goals by Dumont (7.), Gardner (14.) and Pascal Berger (18.). The only goal for Zug by Oppliger (17.) didn't help the hosts to calm the game. When Kwiatkowski scored the 1-4 with a minute left in the second period the game seemed to be already over but Zug fought its way back into the match during the last 20 minutes. Goals by Lammer, Fabian Schnyder and Holden sent the game into overtime which stayed goalless. In the shootout Bern was lucky enough to at least get the extra point back after wasting the chance for a three-point win in regular time.
Rapperswil-Jona Lakers - EHC Biel 1:3After three consecutive losses and the danger of falling out of the playoff spots after several wins by Genève, EHC Biel finally showed a reaction. Against bottom club Rapperswil-Jona Lakers they went in front through Haas (19.). In the 26th minute it was Rizzello who tied the game for the hosts but another late goal in the second period throguh Beaudoin (39.) brought Biel back in front. In the last minute Truttmann made the away win perfect with his empty-netter.
Genève-Servette HC - SCL Tigers 4:0 Servette showed in its home game against the SCL Tigers once more that they have finally understood that they need points to reach the playoffs. The 4-0 was already their fourth consecutive win and the sixth in the last eight games. Within two minutes Simek (13.) and Stalder (15.) brought the hosts in front. Fata (27). and again Simek with one minute left to play increased the playoff hopes of Genève.
