The former national team coach is replaced by junior coach.
Djurgården has been a disappointment so far in Elitserien this season and are in eleventh place, but only two points from a playoff spot. After a recent row of bad results the club has now decided to fire head coach Hardy Nilsson and assistant coach Mikael Johansson.
New head coach is Tony Zabel, who has been junior coach in Djurgården for several years. He will be assisted by Nichlas Falk who retired as player after the last season and Tomas Montén that remains as assistant coach. Zabel is a temporary solution for the rest of the season. From the next season Charles Berglund will be head coach. He was unavailable to take the job this season due to other commitments.
Djurgården is the fourth team in Elitserien to change coach this season, earlier also Timrå, Linköping and Färjestad replaced their coaches.
