Five games played in Elitserien tonight. Skellefteå retook the first place after 2-0 at home to Färjestad.
MoDo - Djurgården 1-0A very important game around the lines in the standings and could it be more exciting?!? The score was 0-0 when MoDo scored on the buzzer of the third period. After a long video review the goal was allowed. Joonas Lehtivouri scored the goal that can be very important when the season is finished. MoDo was the better team in the first and third period while Djurgården had the second. The win took MoDo to seventh place, six points ahead of Djurgården in eleventh place. A tough start for Djurgården's new coach Tony Zabel.
Skellefteå - Färjestad 2-0Skellefteå took an early 2-0 lead against Färjestad after two power play goals but after that it was a lot of bad news for Skellefteå. Anders Söderberg left to game and was taken to hospital with an leg injury, unknown how serious it is. Later also Färjestad's Marcus Paulsson was injured after a blind side tackle from Joakim Lindström. Lindström was given a major + game penalty and will probably be suspended. Shots on goals were 14-27 but in the end it was good news for Skellefteå who still won 2-0 and retook the lead of the league.
Timrå - Frölunda 0-4Timrå had won the last six home against Frölunda but today Frölunda took a solid victory. Timrå had a lot of puck but Frölunda were better in front of but goals and were very dangerous on quick counter attacks. The line with Pyöräla, Olimb and Pettersson continues to show good form and Pyörälä and Olimb both scored two points. Von Gunten and Lundqvist also scored two points. Frederik Andersen made 36 saves for his sixth shutout this season. For Timrå it was the third game in a row at home without scoring any goals in regular time.
AIK - Växjö 3-2 SOAn important game around the playoff line. Växjö took the lead when the Slovak Peter Olvecky scored his first goal for the club but AIK quickly turned things around after goals by Robert Rosén and Patrik Blomdahl. Blomdahl's goal was a fantastic individual effort. When Liam Reddox was given a minor penalty for tripping and 10 minutes for abuse at 58:49 things look bad for Växjö. But they didn't gave up and AIK also got a penalty and with 27 seconds left to play Olvecky scored his second goal of the game when he tipped in Heikkinen's powerful shot from the blueline. But in the end AIK took two important points when they scored on both their shootout shots while Växjö missed both.
Luleå - HV71 1-0 SOAs usual when Luleå plays it is very few goals scored. In this game the only goal was scored in the shootout. Johan Harju got the game winner. David Rautio made 32 shots for the shutout in Luleå's goal. Luleå is now in second place, HV71 in fifth.
