Augsburg and Krefeld both had important wins to stay close to the playoff ranks
Hannover Scorpions - Augsburger Panther 2:3The Hannover Scorpions, DEL champion of 2010, on Tuesday get a new leaguewide negative record after their loss against the vice champion of 2010, the Augsburger Panther. The worst home team of the league had to take the 12th consecutive loss with a home "advantage" - and that even against the worst away team of the DEL.
Despite two comebacks during the match - TJ Trevelyan and Sean O'Connor had brought the guests from Bavaria two times in front but Andre Reiß and Jeff Hoggan tied the game - the Scorpions couldn't avoid another defeat in the TUI Arena. Also outshooting the opponent 33 to 21 did not help. With 5:23 played in the third Gregory Moore did get the game winner for Augsburg which now has only one point distance to the pre-playoff spots.
Krefeld Pinguine - Iserlohn Roosters 4:3Krefeld made an important step to avoid an early end of their DEL season by winning at home against Iserlohn which has the tenth and last preplayoff spot. With only 12 shots on goal in the first two periods Krefeld managed to get a 3-0 lead trough goals by Francois Méthot, Richard Pavlikovsky and Daniel Pietta. Now the Roosters needed to do a bit more and were able to tie the game with goals by Mark Ardelan, Robert Hock and Mike York within ten minutes of the second and third period. In the end it was Daniel Pietta who saved the three points for Krefeld with 9:03 left on the clock. With this win the Penguins are five points behind Iserlohn.
