Severstal qualified for playoffs

Five KHL games on Thursday - Vityaz won for the first time since Dec 23, Severstal clinched playoffs.
Vityaz 2-1 CSKAVityaz snapped their 12th game losing streak beating CSKA 2-1 at home. The score was opened only in the second half of the game when Sergei Lesnukhin came through two D-men and with a quick wrist shot scored at 34:35. Vityaz increased their lead with a beautiful shorthanded goal during a sole move by Yevgeny Timkin at 39:00. CSKA only managed to cut Vityaz lead with a wrist shot by Tomas Surovy. Vityaz goalie Danila Alistratov stopped 32 shots and helped a lot his team to win for the first time since Dec 23.
Severstal 3-0 HC LevSeverstal blanked HC LEV 3-0 at home and clinched playoff spot. Severstal dominated in the first period, they outshot HC Lev 11-4 and managed to score one time. At 16:19 Mikko Lehtonen used a power-play chance to pull Severstal ahead. The game was closed in the third when Yevgeny Kovyrshin and Yevgeny Ketov added two goals and made it 3-0. Vadim Tarasov stopped 24 shots and earned his first shutout this season. After this game Severstal became the fifth team at the West that made the playoffs.
Dynamo Msk 3-2 OT AmurAmur killed three penalties in the first period to open the score with Jakub Petruzalek goal at 16:30. Dynamo in the second turned the game into their account. Sergei Konkov and Sergei Soin 5-on-3 scored and outshot Amur 29-14. Amur returned to the game in the third when Alexander Nikulin in power-play tied the game at 48:55. With 40 seconds remaining in overtime Yury Babenko used a pass from Sergei Soin to close the game and led Dynamo to a win over Amur.
Torpedo 2-1 Metallurg NkMetallurg Nk which fights for a playoff spot in the East was better than Torpedo which is one of the leaders of Tarasov division. But everything began to go as it should in the second when Torpedo took a 2-goal lead early in the period. Martin Thornberg on a delayed penalty opened the scoring with a backhand shot at 22:32. 2 minutes later Robert Nilsson scored after a mistake of a Metallurg D-man who fell down at the own blue line. Metallurg scored later in the second when Dmitry Kagarlitsky used passes from Alexander Bumagin and Brent Sopel to cut the lead. Torpedo's goalie used his chance to show everyone his abilities and did it this night stopping 30 shots and won the second game this season.
Spartak 5-2 Dinamo MnSpartak did get a quick 2-goal lead early in the first. First, Vadim Berdnikov won the faceoff and Stefan Ruzicka fired to open the score at 02:51. 53 seconds later Alexander Budkin with a stun shot in power-play increased the lead. Spartak gifted Belarus team a 5-on-3 chance and Dinamo Minsk cut the lead: Lukas Krajicek fired and Charles Linglet was the first to get the puck after a rebound from the boards at 07:46. Another power-play later in the first led to the equalizer. Daniel Korso beat Sergei Borisov with the second shot when Spartak D-man looked how he did it at 19:02. Later in the second Ruzicka scored the second goal of the night with a quick wrister in power-play. Two minutes later Anatoly Nikontsev fed up a nice pass to Alexander Komaristy who finished this combination at 37:18. It was the first time when Spartak scored 4 or more goals with head coach Andrei Sidorenko. Mikhail Yunkov closed the game with a high shot under the crossbar in a breakaway at 54:34 to get the final score of 5-2.
