A short summary from the five games that was played in Elitserien yesterday.
Luleå - Växjö 1-0
Luleå is showing incredible defensive form, in the last eight games they only allowed more than one goal in one game. The goal differnce for those eight games is 13-7. Today the won 1-0 at home for the second game in the row after only allowing Växjö to shoot 12 shots at goal. David Rautio had his second shutout in a row. But it was only with two minutes left of the game when Elias Fälth scored the game winner.
Brynäs - Timrå 4-1
A solid win for Brynäs who is in the race for winning the league. Johan Larsson, Jakob Silfverberg, Calle Järnkrok and Sebastian Wännström all had two points each in Brynäs. Timrå is really bad right now and will play in the relegation round. The question if they can survive it?
Djurgården - HV71 1-4
Djurgården is out of form and lost again under new coach Tony Zabel. It didn't help that they had seven players out for injuries and had to dress several players from the junior team. The first period was even but in the second HV71 dominated completly and quickly took a 2-0 lead. Christian Eklund got one back for Djurgården but a power play goal by Mattias Karlsson in the third gave HV71 a two goal lead again. 4-1 was scored on the open net.
Skellefteå - AIK 2-1
Skellefteå still leads the league after 2-1 against AIK. Goals by Oscar Lindberg and Melker Karlsson in the first period. That lead was enough when AIK had a big pressure for an equalizer in the third. But they only managed to score once when Robert Rosén scored on the power play.
Färjestad - Frölunda 2-3 SO
After a few wins in a row Frölunda is now on safe grounds in the standings. Fredrik Eriksson and Mika Pyöräla gave Frölunda 2-0 in the second period. But a very early power play goal by Rickard Wallin gave Färjestad the momentum in third and with four minutes left Patrik Lundh tied the game. In the overtime it felt like Färjestad was the only team on the ice but Frederik Andersen saved all 10 attempts. In the shootout Fredrik Pettersson scored the winner for Frölunda.
