Luleå new leaders of Elitserien

Luleå took over the lead from Skellefteå when a full round was played in Elitserien today.
Luleå - Linköping 3-2Luleå is now leading Elitserien after 3-2 at home to Linköping. Linköping had the lead 2-1 but Luleå tied the game by Niklas Olausson and later Olausson assisted on Simon Hjalmarsson's game winning goal. A hard loss for Linköping who made a good game. Linköping is now in eleventh place that leads to the relegation round.
MoDo - AIK 1-5MoDo had 42 shots on goal but only managed to beat Viktor Fasth once. AIK scored five times on 21 shots. Robert Rosén had a great game and scored one goal and made three assists and is now the new top scorer of Elitserien. The win took AIK past MoDo in the standings, AIK is now 7th, MoDo 8th.
Djurgården - Brynäs 6-3After only scoring one goal in the last three games Djurgården finally got the scoring going and scored six goals on Brynäs that has shown good form recently. It was a very entertaining game in front off a sold out arena. Jimmie Ölvestad was back from injury and opened the scoring and was later sent off with a game misconduct after a fight with Jörgen Sundqvist. Andreas Holmqvist was the top scorer of the game with three points.
Färjestad - Skellefteå 3-0Christopher Nihlstorp made 28 saves for the shutout when Färjestad took an important win against Skellefteå who lost their lead of the league. Rickard Wallin gave Färjestad the lead halfway throgh the game. Erik Thorell extended the lead with his first ever goal in Elitserien and later scored his second to make it 3-0 with an empty netter.
HV71 - Växjö 2-3 OTDerby in Småland and HV71 dominated the game and had 45-20 in shots on goal during regular time. But the score was 2-2 and HV71 only got one point as Brad Moran scored the game winner in the shootout. Jason Krog scored one goal and made one assist for HV.
Frölunda - Timrå 6-0Frölunda's fifth straight win and Timrå's fourth straight loss. Fredrik Pettersson was awarded an award from the fans before the game and said thank you by scoring in the first minute both in the first in the second. In the second period Timrå's Niklas Torp was given a match penalty for charging. Frölunda scored three times and the power play to take a 5-0 lead and later also added a fourth power play goal for 6-0. Jari Tolsa scored four points. Tommy Andersson has now coached Timrå in six game, they have failed to scored in regular time in four of these games.
Elitserien now takes an international break and is back again on February 14th.
