4 shutouts by Amur, Yugra, Salavat Yulaev and Avtomobilist goalies, Traktor rally from 2-goal deficit to top the league in Minsk
Amur 4-0 Metallurg MgEarly in the morning Amur faced with Metallurg Mg in the first game of the day. Amur gradually increased their lead with goals by Alexei Kopeikin, Denis Grot, Vyacheslav Litovchenko and Alexander Osipov. It were the first goals in the season for Grot and Litovchenko. Goalie Alexei Murygin stoned 25 shots and earned his third shutout this season.
Metallurg Nk 1-4 AvangardBoth teams had other aims to reach this night. Metallurg Nk is fighting for the 8th place, while Avangard wants to reach the 2nd place at the East. Metallurg Nk grabbed a lead in the middle of the first when Alexei Kosourov redirected a shot from Vaalivaara in power-play. Sergei Kalinin with a sole move tied the game at 13:54. Early in the second Yegor Averin gave Avangard a lead after a nice pass from Dmitry Syomin. Andrei Ivanov with a nice wrist shot made the score 1-3 at 52:31. The game closed when Alexander Nesterov scored into the empty net of Metallurg Nk.
Sibir 0-1 YugraSibir in the last home game this season was blanked by Yugra 0-1. The lonely goal happened in the beginning of the second when Yevgeny Fyodorov fed up a pass to Anton Krysanov who beat goalie Bernd Bruckler. For Krysanov it was only the second goal of the season. Russian goalie Mikhail Biryukov made a great job stopping 40 shots and earning the 6th shutout and becomming one of the best goalies in the league in the percentage of stopping shots. Yugra increased their lead over Metallurg Nk to 6 points and both teams have only 3 games left to play.
Salavat Yulaev 2-0 Dynamo MskAnother shutout happened in Ufa where Salavat Yulaev met Dynamo from Moscow. Both goals were scored with non-equal squads. Firstly Vitaly Atyushov used a pass from other Vitaly Proshkin to open the scoring in power-play at 32:47. Ufa increased their lead early in the third when Igor Mirnov scored a shorthanded goal with Alexaner Radulov in penalty box for slashing. Erik Ersberg stopped all 32 shots that he faced and made the third shutout in this season and the 10th in his KHL career.
Ak Bars 4-3OT TorpedoTorpedo lost the third consecutve game of their road trip. As it was in Ufa Torpedo got a quick 2-goal lead with goals by Robert Nilsson and Ruslan Zainullin, but it was tied when Denis Kulyash and Niko Kapanen scored. At 55:28 Robert Nilsson scored again with 10 second power-play realization. With 1:03 to play in the third Jarkko Immonen tied the game again to turn the game into overtime where Alexei Tereshchenko gave Ak Bars a win.
Spartak 4-2 SKASpartak won in the game where all their hopes for playoff could die, more than that CSKA made for their rivals a gift. In the end of the first Yevgeny Artyukhin got 5+20 for kneeing against Denis Bodrov. Spartak started with a big penalty with conceding a shorthanded goal from Petr Pruha at 16 seconds of the second. But the home team managed to come back to the game for 4 minutes firstly Anatoly Nikontsev was the first on the rebound, then Roman Lyuduchin got a nice pass from Stefan Ruzicka to make it 2-1. Spartak scored again to the end of the second with a 9 second power-play realization. Andre Benoit fired from the blue line and Mikhail Yunkov added the puck to the net at 33:36. Gleb Klimenko with a nice wrist shot cut Spartak lead at 46:05. The game was closed with 4:33 to play when Nikontsev scored the second goal of the night and led Spartak to this important victory.
CSKA 0-2 AvtomobilistCSKA could have made their playoff qualification in the game against outsider of the whole standings. Brothers Streltsov found a hole between Rastislav Stana and the post at 26:31. Vasily Streltsov made a pass to his brother Alexander who made it 0-1. Avtomobilist increased the lead when Igor Velichkin added a puck to the net with a high shot at 41:46. Visitors goalie Yevgeny Lobanov had less work than his opponent Stana, but 26 stoned shots were enough to make the 2nd season shutout and give his team a surprising win.
Dinamo Mn 3-5 TraktorTraktor topped at the first place in the league after beating Dinamo in Minsk 5-3. The team from Belarus pulled ahead with two nice goals by Teemu Laine and Dmitry Meleshko to the 10:01 of the first period. Traktor come back began in the second. Firstly Alexei Vasilchenko and Maxim Yakutsenya tied the game to 26:54. Then Charles Linglet gave Dinamo a 1-goal lead at 33:06, which was cut 31 seconds later with Deron Quint's power-play goal. Two minutes later Traktor grabbed a lead for the first time this night. Anton Burdasov closed the game later in the second after using passes from Grigory Razin and Raymond Giroux. Now Traktor has 3 points over SKA which lost today in Moscow.
Dinamo Riga 2-4 AtlantAtlant got close to the win of its division and clinched the 2nd place in the West classification after a win over Dinamo Riga. A 20 second span at the start of the game gave Atlant a 2-goal lead with Ilya Kablukov and Nikolai Zherdev goals. Kristjanis Redlihs cut it in power-play with assists from Mikelis Redlihs at 14:05. Early in the second Dmitry Upper resumed a 2-goal difference for Atlant. Maris Bicevskis with his first KHL goal cut the lead of Russian team again at 33:55. Two swedes Patrick Zackrisson and Jonas Andersson closed the game at 46:24.
HC Lev 2-3 BarysHC Lev ended the season for their home fans with a rally from 0-2 and lost in last 84 seconds. Jiri Hunkes stopped Kazakh forward Talgat Zhailaulov at 18:33, the officials gave visitors a penalty shot that was successfully scored by Zhailaulov. In the second Slovak team got a power-play chance when Karl Fabricius went to the penalty box. Lukas Kaspar and Kevin Dallman gave a chance to Brandon Bochenski scored his 24th goal of the season. Minute later Stepan Novotny cut Barys lead 1-2. The game was coming to an end when Emil Lundberg tied it at 57:25. But overtime didn’t happen because of Bochenski who made a double at 58:36, gave Barys a win and became the best sniper in the league.
