All positions from 2nd to 9th still not secured with now one matchday left in the NLA
Rapperswil-Jona Lakers - EV Zug 2:9
Horrible performance by bottom club Rapperswil-Jona Lakers against the
now regular season winner EV Zug. Although the match started well for
the hosts as Stacy Roest opened the score after only five minutes, two
goals in the 15th minute by Zug should be the beginning of a real heavy
package. Thomas Rüfenacht and Damien Brunner had turned the game around
for the EVZ. Later in the period Corsin Casutt even increased the guest
lead to two. Until the "half time" of the match Patrick Opplinger, Timo
Helbling and Duri Camichel made it 1-6. When Antonio Rizzello tried to
make the result a bit more comfortable for the home side at the end of
the second, the horrow show was not over yet. In the last 20 minutes
Josh Holden, Andreas Furrer and Damien Brunner with his second of the
night gave the favourites a very easy win.
HC Davos - SCL Tigers 1:3
Swiss record champion HC Davos lost all chances to finish the regular
season at the first place of the table by losing at home against the SCL
Tigers. Tobias Bucher had brought the guests in front in the middle of
the frst. The lead was increased early in the middle period by Philipp
Würst. In the 31st Petr Taticek brought hope back to the home fans but
only two minutes later Simon Moser scored the made it the final result
of 1-3 in favour of Langnau. Now Davos can even lose the second place to
Fribourg as the HCD has to travel to Biel for the last game of the
regular season and Biel still needs every point to get the playoff
qualification.
HC Lugano - SC Bern 2:3 SOBern gets shootout win in Lugano after having received a late equalizer. Kevin Romy had opened the score for Lugano in the 9th minute but Joel Vermin and Byron Ritchie turned the match around. When everything looked like the guests would get the win in a close game, Daniel Steiner tied the match with 59 seconds left. After a goalless overtime Bern had more luck in the shootout and earned two important points that keep them in a short distance to the Kloten Flyers so that they can still get the home advantage in the playoff series between the two clubs. After their loss Lugano can still fall to the 7th place as they only have two points more than the ZSC Lions.
Fribourg-Gottéron - ZSC Lions 2:1Fribourg secured an important home win against Zürich which will keep them in distance to second placed HC Davos. Adam Hasani had opened the score early in the middle period for Fribourg and Benny Plüss extended the lead in the 43rd. One and a half minutes later Jeff Tambellini cut the lead to just one but the race to catch up came to late for the guests. Now Fribourg has good chances to get to the second place with an away win in Kloten as their direct competitor Davos has the far more difficult task to win against playoff candidate Biel.
HC Ambrì-Piotta - EHC Biel 1:4Against the penultimate of the table, Biel get an three point win that gives them a one-point advantage over Genève in the fight for the eight place which is the last one to qualify for the playoffs. Goals by Truttmann, Spylo, Haas and Beaudoin were decisive for Biel, in the second period Joel Perrault had scored the equalizer. Now Biel can decide the playoff fight against Servette with a home win against Davos on Saturday. If Servette does not have a three-point win in Zürich even a loss against Davos is enough for Biel to qualify.
Genève-Servette HC - Kloten Flyers 4:6Genève might have destroyed all their playoff hopes after losing in regular time against Kloten despite a solid three-goal lead until the middle of the match. Tony Salmelainen, Goran Bezina and Rico Fata let the game look decided around "half time" but only 34 seconds after the third by Genéve it was Matthias Bieber who scored the first for Kloten. Until the end of the second Micki Dupont even cut the lead to just one. This was the beginning of a nightmare for the home side which ended up receiving six consecutive goals - four of them in the last period where Samuel Walser, Tommi Santala, Michael Liniger and again Micki Dupoint decided everything in favour of the Flyers. With 66 seconds left to play Morris Trachsler's goal came far too late for Servette to have a chance to get anything from this game. Now Genève needs an away win against the ZSC Lions in the last match of the regular season and has to hope that Biel loses at home against second placed Davos. Kloten has the chance to defend their fourth place at home against Fribourg.
