Avangard 3-4 Neftekhimik

Avangard clinched the second spot at the East in the previous game day and therefore could allow them not to play with full motivation today. Neftekhimik led the game from 7:35 till the end. Igor Polygalov twice, Maxim Pestushko and Nikolai Lemtyugov beat Avangard goalie Alexei Kuznetsov. Avangard answered with goals by Alexander Popov, Yegor Averin and Alexander Frolov which didn’t help to avoid the loss. Neftekhimik ended the season at the 10th place at the Eastern conference. Avangard will face Amur in the first round of the play-offs.

Barys 3-2 Vityaz

Barys avoided a meeting with Avangard in the first round after beating Vityaz 3-2 at home. Vityaz led the game in the third 1-2 with goals by Troshchinsky and Timkin, which were the answer to Barys' Kamil Kreps who opened the scoring early in the second. At 50:11 Konstantin Pushkaryov with his first goal of the season tied the game and with 1:02 to play in the third Jiri Novotny led Barys to a win and a meeting with Metallurg Mg in the first round. Vityaz ended the season at the bottom of their conference at the 11th place in the West.

Avtomobilist 1-2 SO Spartak

Spartak ended the season with a shootout victory over Avtomobilist and not getting to the play-offs for the first time in their KHL history. At 41:49 Denis Kazionov who was behind the net dished up a pass to Dmitry Tsyganov who made it 1-0. Denis Bodrov in power-play tied the game with a powerful blue line shot. In the shootout an accurate shot from Stefan Ruzicka gave Spartak the win. Avtomobilist ended the standings in the East with 49 points, when Spartak was closed to playoffs and placed at the 9th position.

Metallurg Mg 4-3 Salavat Yulaev

The battle for the third place in the East happened in Magnitogorsk where the local team faced Salavat Yulaev. Igor Grigorenko pulled Ufa ahead at 08:52. Then Metallurg answered with 4 goals from Tomas Rolinek twice, Dmitry Bykov and Dmitry Khlystov. Salavat Yulaev only managed to cut the lead to a
minimum with the help of Alexander Svitov and again Grigorenko. Metallurg Mg took the 3rd place and Barys in the first round while Salavat Yulaev placed 5th and will have a start of first round in Kazan against their arch-rivals Ak Bars Kazan.

Traktor 5-4 Severstal

Traktor won the Continental Cup after a dramatic game against Severstal. Severstal took a quick lead in the first when Niklas Bergfors and Gennady Stolyarov beat Michael Garnett. Traktor will face Yugra in the first round while Severstal will have a start in Mytischi against Atlant like last season.

In the shootout Igor Skorohodov led Yugra to a victory which didn’t help them to avoid a meeting with first-placed Traktor in the first round. Ak Bars as written earlier will have a home ice advantage in their series against Salavat Yulaev.

Atlant 1-4 Metallurg Nk

Atlant knew that Severstal lost the game to Traktor and their fourth place was not in danger. Maybe because of this reason they managed to lose Metallurg Nk 1-4 at home. During a 45-second span early in the second Metallurg took a lead with goals by Alexander Golovin and Anton Lazarev. Lazarev scored again in the beginning of the third. Only Ivan Vishevsky this night beat Metallurg goalie Alexander Lazushin. Randy Robitaille closed the game at 55:10.
