Luleå wins Elitserien

With two rounds left to play of Elitserien it's decided that Luleå will win the league while there is still a close race about the last playoff spot and avoiding the relegation round.
AIK - Luleå 0-1 OTLuleå won Elitsereien's regular season after scoring the only goal in overtime in a close game away to AIK. Johan Gustafsson made 28 saves for the shutout and it was Elias Fälth who scored the league winning goal only 27 seconds into the overtime when Luleå was playing on the power play. AIK played without Viktor Fasth in goal but his replacement Markus Svensson did well to keep the score at 0-0 in regular time. The point AIK got for the tie after 60 minutes was also enough to qualify AIK for the playoffs.
MoDo - Brynäs 1-2 SOIt was a game with a lot of shots but few goals. Shots on goal was 41-43 but the score only 1-1 after 65 minutes. MoDo had taken the lead in the seconds period but Ryan Gunderson tied it only two minutes later. It was MoDo who needed the win the most but it was Brynäs who got the bonus point when Jakob Silfverberg scored the game winner.
Timrå - Djurgården 2-1 SODjurgården are back down on eleventh place that leads to the relegation round after only taking one point away to last placed Timrå. Timrå has been playing extremely bad in the last few games played more tight today and had a 1-0 lead after a hard blueline shot by Jesper Dahlroth, but Djurgården put some pressure on Timrå in the third period and with only 32 seconds left Jimmie Ölvestad tied the game for Djurgården after nice play by Nilson and Zibanejad. The game went to a shootout were Timrå scored twice and Djurgården once, Matt Murley got the game winner.
Linköping - Skellefteå 3-2Linköping needed points to avoid the relegation round while Skellefteå needed points to still have the chance to win the regular season. At the end it was Linköping who got the important three points when they won 3-2. Pär Arlbrandt assisted on the 1-0 goal and scored the game winning 3-1 goal in the third period. Lee Goren made it 3-2 with 2:36 left to play but Skellefteå didn't managed to tie the game and missed out on the chance to win the regular season. Linköping is now one point ahead of Djurgården in the chase of avoiding the relegation
HV71 - Färjestad 6-3HV71 got off to a great start against Färjestad and had 1-0 after 49 seconds 2-0 after three minutes and 3-0 after nine minutes. After that Färjestad never managed to come back and HV71 won 6-3. Jesse Joensuu scored two goals.
Frölunda - Växjö 1-3Växjö was down 1-0 after two period but won the last period 3-0 to take the last chance to stay in the race of the last playoff spot. Gustav Hjalmarsson tied the game only 27 seconds into the third period and Ilkka Heikkinen scored the winner with only 1:19 left of the game with a hard power play shot. Brad Moran assisted on both those goals.
