Three overtimes happened in the third playoff day in the West which only home teams managed to win. Dynamo Moscow with a sweep?
CSKA 3-2 OT SKAAfter two games in Saint-Petersburg it seemed that SKA would already end the series against CSKA with a sweep in 4 games. The third game started with a lot of’ pressure by the visitors. At 09:32 Ivan Nepryaev took a pass from Fyodorov to open the score. 4 minutes later Vladimir Tarasenko increased the SKA lead with a high wrist shot. To the end of the first CSKA cut the lead when Alexander Guskov fired from the blue line and Sergei Andronov was first on the rebound. At 29:12 Niklas Persson tied the game after adding a puck into the net after Denis Parshin's shot. Parshin in the overtime closed the game at 65:49 to give CSKA the first win in this series.
Severstal 2-1 OT AtlantThe same situation as CSKA Severstal faced and in their first game at home they cut Atlant's lead. The game was very active from both teams but goals in regulation happened only in the first. First Janne Niskala opened the scoring with a high shot under Severstal goalie Vasily Koshechkin's shoulder who was on his knees at this moment. But 13 seconds later Ruslan Nurtdinov tied the game with a nice wrist shot. For the next goal the spectators had to wait for 60 minutes. At 68:52 Ondrej Nemec fired from the board to give Severstal the so important win.
“I only saw that the puck touched a d-man and got to the net. I just wanted to make a volley pass to have someone redirect the puck,” Ondrej Nemec said Sport-Express.
Dinamo Minsk 2-4 Dynamo MoscowBefore the playoffs it didn't seem that this series could come to an end after only 4 games but this scenario could become reality after Dinamo Minsk's third loss. Dynamo Moscow got a quick tree goal lead until 11:38. At 01:50 Alexander Kulakov got 5+20 penalty for a rough play against Alexander Boikov who had to stop playing after a severe injury. During a 5 minute penalty Ilya Gorokhov and Mikhail Anisin scored for Dynamo. The third goal was also scored in power-play by Konstantin Gorovikov. In the middle of the second Minsk cut the lead also in power-play when Peter Podhradsky fired and Andrei Stas redirected the puck. Mikhail Anisin made a double at the end of the second when he overplayed Minsk's d-men and goalie Kevin Lalande who substituted Andrei Mezin in the first. Geoff Platt ended the game with a shorthanded goal at the last seconds of Andrei Stas' penalty. Dynamo Moscow won in this series and can finish first round tomorrow.
“The sport can make a surprise. But it will be very difficult for us to return the series,” the head coach of Dinamo Minsk told their official site.
