Brynäs beats Färjestad 3-0 on away and is only one game away from the final. AIK and Skellefteå are tied after a win by AIK today.
Färjestad - Brynäs 0-3 (Series: 1-3)Brynäs is close to qualifying for the final after beating Färjestad 3-0 on away ice to take the lead in the series 3-1. Now they have the chance to take the fourth and decisive win at home on Tuesday.
The first period was filled with penalties and Färjestad was the slightly better team when it actually was some hockey played between the small fights that occured. Brynäs took over more of the game in the second period but the game what very close and there wasn't many chances to score.
But Brynäs scored the importan opening goal after 31 minutes and surprisingly it was the fourth line who scored it against Färjestad's first line. Joachim Rohdin scored after a nice assist from young Emil Molin. "Emil went around the net and I only tried to make myself playable and it was nice to put it in", Rohdin said about the goal.
Färjestad didn't have enough energy to turn the game around in the third and instead Mats Hansen doubled the lead for Brynäs with a power goal at 12:36. Färjestad made a desperate attempt and pulled the goale but Jesper Ollas quickly put the end to Färjestad hopes and made it 3-0 on the empty net. Niklas Svedberg made 26 saves for the shutout.
AIK - Skellefteå 5-3 (Series: 2-2)Before this semi final series many players said that they expected a close series with few goals scored but this series has seen many goals so far and today eight goals were scored.
Just as the last game played in Stockholm AIK took an early 2-0 lead after a power play goal by Dick Tärnström and a 2-0 goal by Johannes Salmonsson just 32 seconds later. But just as in the second semi final Skellefteå pulled one goal back by Oscar Möller.
In semi final 2 Skellefteå turned 0-2 around but today AIK made it 3-1 when Kent McDonell showed great will in front of goal five minutes into the second. But Skellefteå would come back from being two goal down also today. Bud Holloway was behind both goals when he made a great assist on Pierre-Edouard Bellemare's 3-2 goal and later he made 3-3 himself.
At this time things looked bad for AIK, would they lose at home again despite a two goal lead? No AIK showed strenght and took the important win to tie the series. Elitserien top scorer Robert Rosén finally showed some scoring form again when he made 4-3 on power play with less than five minutes before the final buzzer. Daniel Rudslätt made the final score 5-3 on another power play with just two minutes left.
