Three power play goals take Skellefteå to the final of Elitserien where they will play Brynäs.
Skellefteå qualified for the final of Elitserien after beating AIK in the seventh and decisive semi final game. The final score was 5-3 in a game were Skellefteå took control of the game from the start. Skellefteå dominated the first period and one of the best players in this playoff. Jimmie Ericsson opened the scoring at 10:56 with one of three power play goals for Skellefteå today.
Johan Forsberg picked up a rebound to make it 2-0 a few minutes later and Skellefteå also had good chances for 3-0 but instead Johannes Salmonsson's pass gave Kent McDonell a breakaway that he finished with a powerful shot for 2-1. A very important goal to keep AIK in the game.
But five minutes into the second period Oscar Möller made it 3-1 on another power play. AIK had it very difficult to create anything and it took over 15 minutes in the second period before AIK had their first shot on goal in the period.
The score was still only 3-1 after two periods and AIK still had the chance, but when Christian Söderström luckily made it 4-1 only 1:35 into the third it felt like the game was over. The shot hit an AIK defender before it found its way into the goal. AIK pulled one goal by Tobias Viklund's shot from a tight angle. But AIK was never close to come back and instead Lee Goren made it 5-2 on the empty net. Daniel Bång scored AIK's last goal of the season when he made the final score 5-3 in the dying seconds of the game.
