The two DEL record champions will decide the championship between themselves
Adler Mannheim - ERC Ingolstadt 6:2 In front of more than 11,000 spectators Mannheim decided the series against Ingolstadt in game 4. Already in the 3rd minute the home side used its first power play to get in front when Chris Lee fired the puck from the blue line with a one timer into the left corner. Just two minutes after this Ingolstadt again took a penalty and also this time the power play for Mannheim was succesful. After a great short pass by Christoph Ullmann it was Ken Megowan who stood directly in front of the goal and put the puck over the line for the very early 2-0. In a period that was clearly dominated by the Eagles who had many good chances, Ingolstadt came back through Tim Hambly who scored after a won faceoff with less than two minutes to go in one of just five shots in the first 20 minutes of his team. But less than 60 seconds later Marcus Kink already got the two-goal lead for Mannheim back.
In the 23rd Rick Girard received a rebound after a Greilinger shot and had no problems to get the puck into the net to cut distances in favour of the ERC. Now the guests found a way to get into the match but around "half time" Yanick Lehoux with a shot from a very sharp angle into the top right corner made it 4-2. In the last minute of the middle period Ingolstadt scored another one but the videor review showed that the goal was pushed before the puck entered it so that the goal could not be given. Already in the 42nd Ken Megowan with his second of the night decided the match and now Ingolstadt had given themselves up. Marcus Kink later also made another one for the final score of 6-2 in favour of Mannheim.
Mannheim wins series 3-1
Straubing Tigers - Eisbären Berlin 2:4Straubing wanted to use its last chance to stay in the playoffs. But in front of almost 6,000 spectators Barry Tallackson opened the score already in the 5th minute for the big favourites from Berlin with a well-placed shot into the right corner. In the second half of a period that was dominated by the Polar Bears, Michael Bakos used one of the few opportunities for the home side to tie the match with a short into the short corner. In the middle period Berlin wanted the lead back but instead it was Sebastian Osterloh who turned the game around by taking the puck out of the air after Berlin goalie Rob Zepp couldn't clear the situation. In the third period Straubing finally was an even rival for Berlin but the guests now were more than effective by scoring three times in only eight shots on goal. First Tallackson with his second made it 2-2 at the begin of the third, then Darin Olver get the lead back and in the last minute of play Florian Busch made everything clear with his empty netter.
