All seven Swedish teams win ET opener

The seven Swedish teams of European Trophy all entered the tournament tonight. All had home games. All won.
Djurgården, Brynäs, Luleå, Linköping, HV71, Färjestad and Frölunda all won their European Trophy tonight and the Swedish record was perfect 7-0.
Djurgården – Bern 4-1Djurgården was relegated from Elitserien last season but remains in European Trophy. The team of the Swedish capital beat the Swiss top club SC Bern 4-1. In the first period the Swedish team outshot the Swiss 9-1 and got a 2-0 lead with powerplay goals by Dustin Johner and Markus Sörensen. Byron Ritchie scored the only Bern goal at 6:06 of the second period. At 34:22 Tristan Scherwey took the second Swiss major penalty (5+game) of the game and when Ivo Ruthemann got sent off for hooking David Lindström scored 3-1 on the 2-man advantage. Four minutes before the end Erik Gustafsson makes it 4-1 Djurgården.
Brynäs IF - Fribourg-Gottéron 4-2 Brynäs got the 4-2 win against Fribourg-Gottéron but the game had an exciting finish. The Swedes had a 3-0 lead after two periods on goals by Daniel Widing, Johan Harju and Jörgen Sundqvist. Pavel Rosa and Sandy Jeannin scored powerplay goals for Fribourg-Gottéron in the third to make it 3-2. When they pulled the goalie Simon Rytz, Jonas Nordqvist just needed 10 seconds to score an empty netter for 4-2 and Calle Järnkrok got his third assist for the night.
Luleå – Mountfield 5-2Cam Abbott scored twice and Niklas Olausson had three points (1+2) when the team of Northern Sweden beat Mountfield 5-2. Mountfield got nine penalties and Luleå only three. Toni Koivisto’s 2-0 and Cam Abbott’s 3-1 were scored with men advantage, but Mountield’s first goal was scored short-handed by Rastislav Dej for 2-1. At 4-2, after goals by Niklas Olausson and Roman Vrablik, Mountfield pulled the goalie Jakub Kovar and Karl Fabricius scored in the empty net.
Linköping - Slovan Bratislava 4-2The only KHL team of the European Trophy Slovan Bratislava lost away to Linköping. Carl Söderberg, Pär Arlbrandt, Sebastian Karlsson and Sebastian Ottosson scored for the home team before Slovan could beat Linköping’s goalie Christian Engstrand twice with goals from Jonathan Sigalet and Milan Kytnar.
HV71 - Vienna Capitals 3-1Rhett Rakhshani got three assists when HV71 of Jönköping beat Vienna Capitals 3-1 at home. Vienna took the lead with a powerplay goal by Jonathan Ferland after only 2:31. When HV71 got a 2-man advantage in the second period Jason Krog tied the game. At 29:35 Mats Trygg scored to take the home team to the lead. Krog got his second goal of the game at 55:52.
Färjestad - ZSC Lions 5-2 Jack Connolly, last year’s best American college player, scored the first two goals for Färjestad when Zürich was beaten 5-2. Six of the seven goals were scored in the second period. Reto Schäppi and Jeff Tambellini tied the game after Connolly’s goals but Marcus Paulsson, Joakim Hillding and Magnus Nygren added another three for Färjestad.
Frölunda – Zug 3-2 All five goals of this game at Frölundaborg were scored in the middle period. With two men on the Swiss penalty bench Fabian Sutter managed to give Zug the lead at 8:23. The next minute Henrik Tömmernes tied it on the same 2-man advantage. Mikael Johansson scored 3-1 at 38:03 and Andy Wozniewski made it 3-2 17 seconds before the end of the second period. Frölunda outshot their opponent 41-22.
