One more year with Jalonen
Opening season will be the last one for Jukka Jalonen as a Finnish national team coach. Jalonen announced today that he will retire from his job after next spring's World Championships when his current contract with Finnish ice hockey association ends.
Jukka Jalonen has belonged to coaching staff of Finnish team since 2007 and has been a head coach since 2008. He coached Finland to World Champs in Bratislava 2011. Jalonen's assistants will change already for this season when Ari-Pekka Selin (head coach of SM-liiga club HPK) and Ari Moisanen (goalie trainer of Lukko Rauma) start immediately replacing Petri Matikainen and Pasi Nurminen. Jalonen hasn't revealed yet his next job. Strongest candidates for Jalonen's place has been mentioned Kai Suikkanen of Pelicans and Kari Jalonen of Nizhni Novgorod.
