Lokomotiv’s first loss
14 Sep 2012 | Henrik Lundqvist
Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod was the first team who could stop Lokomotiv in this season's KHL. In the other game of the day Dynamo Moscow got a shoot-out win against Avtomobilist.
Torpedo had opened the KHL season with three losses and Lokomotiv with three wins. Still it was Torpedo that left the Tarasov Division meeting with three points. When Martin Thörnberg scored 4-1 for Torpedo the game appeared to be decided, but goals by Niklas Hagman and Alexei Kalyuzhny took Lokomotiv to a one-goal deficit. Ruslan Zainullin's first goal of the season for 5-3 with 19 seconds remaining of the second period however turned the momentum and Lokomotiv never recovered. Matt Ellison added 6-3 for the home team three minutes before the end.
Dynamo Moskva had a 3-1 lead in the third period after goals by Konstantin Kasyanchuk, Roman Derlyuk and Dominik Granak but late goals by Vasily Streltsov and Alexander Yukseyev took Avtomobilist to overtime and shoot-out. In the shoot-out Dynamo's Richard Gynge got the winning goal.
Tomorrow is another busy day in KHL with ten games.
