Yaroslavl needs only one goal to win in Cherepovets. In another two close games Dinamo and Atlant both with a 5-4.
At 05:51 Staffan Kronwall - in power play - opened the score for Lokomotiv Yaroslavl in their away game against Severstal Cherepovets. Only few people would have thought that this would actually be already the game winner. Severstal created more chances than their opponents but all 37 shots were saved by Lokomotiv goalie Vitaly Kolesnik. For him it was his first shutout of the young season.
Atlant Moscow Oblast lay behind 0-1, 1-2 and 2-4 in Chekhov against local side Vityaz but Mikhail Glukhov and Maxim Mayorov tied the game another time in the third period. When the game ended in shootout again Glukhov and Nikita Tochitsky - who also had a goal in regulation - were succesful for Atlant while Vityaz failed in their two efforts. With the extra point Atlant defended the small point difference and stays ahead of Lokomotiv in Tarasov Division.
Spartak stays at the bottom of Tarasov Division. In Riga they lost 4-5 in regulation against Dinamo. This was already their 7th loss in the last 8 matches. In an equal game the Latvian hosts were always one step ahead of their opponents from the Russian capital. Jamie Johnson, Alexandre Giroux and Andris Dzerins created a 3-1 lead for Dinamo until 22:13 with the Spartak equalizer in between through Stefan Ruzicka. Still at the begin of the second period Andrei Shefer cut the lead before Mathieu Carle got the two-goal lead back to Riga. Oleg Petrov and Stefan Ruzicka with his second of the night brought Spartak back into the match before Guntis Galvins scored the game winner for Dinamo at 53:55.
