When CSKA beat Spartak 2-1 in overtime Pavel Datsyuk scored his first two KHL goals. Thursday's other winners were Traktor Chelyabinsk, Metallurg Magnitogorsk and Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod.

In his first four KHL games Pavel Datsyuk had collected four assists. In the fifth game, against the local rival Spartak, the Detroit Red Wings veteran scored both goals for CSKA. He scored 1-0 in the middle of the second period. The score lasted until 8 minutes before the end of the third period when Spartak's Stefan Ruzicka tied it. The game continued in overtime and with only one second remaining Datsyuk scored his second of the game.

Metallurg Novokuznetsk suffered an embarrassing 6-0 loss at home to Traktor Chelyabinsk Andrei Kostitsyn (2+1) and Jan Bulis (1+2) both had three points. Stanislav Chistov, Anton Glinkin and Maxim Yakutsenya also scored goals. Michael Garnett in Traktor's net had another great game saving 39 shots to earn his third shutout of the season.

Metallurg Magnitogorsk got a 2-1 win away to Sibir Novosibirsk. Nikolai Kulyomin scored the winner on a powerplay in the third period. Mats Zuccarello Aasen and Yevgeny Malkin assisted. Pavel Zdunov had scored 1-0 for Metallurg and Stepan Sannikov had tied it for Sibir – both in the second period.
