Limited succes for DEL away teams. All six of them lost but four at least earned a point
Adler Mannheim completed their task for this Sunday to get the lead in DEL back but against underdogs Düsseldorfer EG they gave up a point. Christoph Ullmann used a 5 on 3 power play to get the Eagles in front at the end of the first period before Carl Ridderwall tied the match early in the second. In the end it was Frank Mauer who scored the game winner for the home team at 02:37 of the overtime.
Augsburg had the big opportunity for the first spot but in Hannover they stumbled over the local Scorpions. For a long time the first-period goal by Stephan Wilhelm stood and the Panthers failed to created enough danger in front of the Hannover net. In the last 20 minutes Andreas Morczinietz and Ivan Ciernik added another two strikes for a dersevd 3-0 win. Dmitri Pätzold made 26 saves to get a shutout.
Another amazing comeback of the Eisbären Berlin let them fly to the fourth spot already. After 40 minutes the hosts were behind 2-3 but in the very last second (!!!) Frank Hördler tied the match for the Capitals. In the following shootout Florian Busch and André Rankel gained the extra point for Berlin.
The Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg were close to experience a horror day. After 40 minutes they had a 3-0 lead but three goals within three minutes in the last period tied the match. Norm Milley then was the lucky guy to score the game winner for Wolfsburg at 62:02 in overtime.
By now its all or nothing for Straubing. In their first eight matches they had free time after 60 minutes and so it was today. Against favourites ERC Ingolstadt they had a great third period and managed to score three consecutive goals for a 4-2 win. Now Straubing is 7th, only two points behind Berlin on the 4th position.
After 40 minutes Iserlohn was close to a derby win in Krefeld but with the help of NHL defender Christian Ehrhoff (2 assists) the Penguins first tied the match until 58:05 and then Herberts Vasiljevs scored the game-winner in a 4 on 3 in the last minute of overtime.
