TPS and Brynäs win when European Trophy restarts

Tappara secured a spot in the playoffs when European Trophy continued today with two games in the East Division after a break since September 8.
In Tampere Brynäs defeated Tappara 3-1. Both teams ended the group stage with 17 points but Tappara grabbed the first place thanks to a better goal difference. Brynäs will have to await other results to see if the second place will enough to qualify for the Red Bulls Salute.
The home team Tappara scored the only goal of the first period in Hakametsä when Antti Erkinjutti beat Robin Rahm at 18:15. In the second period Brynäs scored three goals in a 4:44 span. Martin Johansson tied the game and then Johan Harju scored twice. The third period only saw five shots on goal - all for Tappara.
Both TPS and Djurgården were without a chance to reach the playoffs. Djurgården had a 2-0 lead after half the game on two goals by Henrik Eriksson, but the Finnish home team won today's game 3-2. Marko Virtala scored 1-2 and Ville Vahalahti tied it in the second period. At 44:17 Veli-Matti Vittasmäki score the game-winner for TPS.
