ET: 16-year-old game winner in Linköping
22 Oct 2012 | Henrik Lundqvist
When Linköping beat KalPa in today's European Trophy game the 16-year-old Czech talent Jakub Vrana scored the winning goal. In Gothenburg HIFK showed no mercy to Frölunda.
HIFK beat Frölunda 8-0. Frölunda did like many other teams in the October games of European Trophy. Rest the stars, and give the juniors a chance to play. HIFK came with a strong team and with three goals in the first period, the game was already won.
Arttu Luttinen and
Roope Talaja scored two goals each.
Linköping also dressed many young players that normally don't play with the A-team against KalPa. But Linköping was more successful than Frölunda.
Sebastian Ottosson (1992) and
Joachim Nermark (1993) scored in the first period. The third and game-winning goal for Linköping was scored by 16-year-old
Jakub Vrana in his first game with the seniors.
"This is a memory for life", says Vrana to Corren after the game. "I thought Himelfarb would shoot first, but then got the puck to me and then it was almost open net. A great feeling!"
None of the four teams that played today has a chance to reach the playoffs.
