NLA recap Tuesday
Goalie fight between Manzato and Stephan; Empty net game between Zug and Biel; Fribourg didn't show up for the derby; Zürich Lions are looking for NHL stars.
Zug 7 Biel 4
First game of the season for Biel goalie Marco Streit, until here he couldn't make his contribute due to injury. Also mention to Patrick Kane. The former Chicago Blackhawks player arrived on Sunday in Switzerland. He played in second line with Marc-Antoine Pouliot and captain Mathieu Tschantré.
About the game? Not too much. And specially not a good one for both coaches. A bad system in neutral zone produced eleven goals in the game. On Zug side the Canadian player Josh Holden and the Swedish Henrik Zetterberg both led the team with two goals and an assist. On Biel side Marc-Antoine Pouliot led the team with two goals and an assist. Patrick Kane did a goal and an assist for his first game in Swiss NLA.
Davos 5 Zürich 1
Tonight the line Sykora-Thornton-Nash "took a day off". Still, the home team had enough weapons to beat defending champions Zürich Lions. The line composed by Wieser-Rizzi-Bürgler was decisive in this game. The line was on the ice when the three first goals happened for Davos. Special mention for Leonardo Genoni, Davos goalkeeper who realized 30 saves. On Zürich side, the coach Marc Crawford is not happy with the performance of team in the last games and is now looking for a NHL player to replace the Canadian Gilbert Brûlé that left the team a few days ago. Names like Dallas Star Loui Eriksson, Chicago Blackwaks Patrick Sharp and Lightning Steven Stamkos are on the table.
Langnau 5 Lakers 1
Langnau made his redemption. The games against Biel and Fribourg were ugly but tonight with a solid game the home team did good against the Lakers. They passed from 0-0 at minute 28 to 4-1 eleven minutes later. Pascal Pelletier and Etienne led the team with a goal and two assists. Mention to Langnau's goalie Thomas Baümle(first game after injury) with 27 saves(96.43%).
Bern 6 Fribourg 2
Fribourg didn't show up to play the derby against Bern. Two shots on the first period, six on the second and six on the third. After 6 minutes on the first period, Hans Kossmann took his timeout. The first three goals on power-play made the things easier for Bern. Byron Ritchie(2g 1 a) John Tavares(1g 2a) and Ryan Gardner(1g 2a) led Bern tonight.
Kloten 6 Ambri 2
After five losses in six games, Kloten produced a solid game tonight against Ambri. Four players(Santala, Laich, Herren and Holenstein) with a goal and assist led the home team.
Lugano 3 Geneva 4
Lugano and Geneva usually do games under huge tension. Today it was also the case. The goalies from both teams, Manzato and Stephan had a fight tonight. They were many others in the game but this one between goalies was a situation pretty unusual. About the game, one more time Geneva made the difference in special situation. Patrice Bergeron led Lugano with a goal and an assist. Logan Couture(1g 2a) and Kevin Romy(2 goals) led Geneva.
