Skellefteå scores five in the third period

The Elitserien game between AIK and Skellefteå was tied 0-0 after 40 minutes, but in a strong third period the guests scored five goals to stay top-3 in the standings. Linköping, Brynäs, Färjestad, Växjö and Luleå also win on Thursday night.

AIK's goalie Niklas Lundström and Skelletfeå's goalie Joacim Eriksson had saved all shots to keep the game at 0-0 after 40 minutes. But in the third period Skellefteå exploded. Fredrik Lindgren opened the scoring at 42:12. Martin Sevc and Oscar Möller made sure the lead was 3-0 after half the period. Johan Alm scored 4-0 at 53:32 and with a little more than two minutes remaining Joakim Lindström made it 5-0 for the visitors.

Linköping's keeper Christian Engstrand was injured during last game, but today his back-up Andreas Andersson showed that he also is a top goalie. With 38 saves against MODO we earned a shut-out. Linköping won the game 3-0 with goals by Simon Hjalmarrson, Mattias Weinhandl and Pär Arlbrandt.

Brynäs defeated Timrå 4-2. Christian Söderström opened the scoring for the home team Timrå but goals by Elias Lindholm, Jonas Nordquist and Cody Franson took Brynäs to a 3-1 lead after two periods. In the middle of the last period Timrå's veteran Jonathan Hedström made it 2-3, but Calle Järnkrok secured the win for Brynäs with a goal two minutes before the buzzer.

Another shut-out by Färjestad's hot goalie Alexander Salak gave the home team a 4-0 win against Rögle. Magnus Nygren, Max Görtz, Marcus Paulsson and Christian Berglund scored the goals.

Växjö surprised HV 71 in Jönköping. The guests had the lead 2-0 and 3-1 but goals by HV's Oscar Fantenberg and Jason Krog in the second half of the third period took the game to overtime. The game was decided in the shoot-out where Växjö's Tomi Kallio was the only player to score.

Also Luleå got a shoot-out win. 2-1 away to Frölunda.Linus Klasen got the winner. Luleå took the lead in the second period with a short-handed goal by Chris Abbott. Fredrik Sjöström tied it for Frölunda at 42:33.
