Minsk celebrates an easy victory

The only Kontinental Hockey League game today was held in Riga, where the local Dinamo Riga faced Dinamo Minsk, losing to them 0:2. It was an easy victory for Minsk, as Riga's performance could only be described as apathetic. The loss stirred up widespread rumours about head coach Rautakallio leaving the team.
The first twenty minutes of the game were rather eventless, as neither of the teams managed to create a lot of chances to score. Minsk clearly had the edge of the game, and already in the ninth minutes of the game they opened the score, with Alexander Kitarov beating Mikael Tellqvist.
In the early minutes of the second period Riga's performance did not seem that hopeless, however that did not stop Minsk from literally dominating the period. Already on the fourth minute of the period Tim Stapleton scored a beautiful goal, making it 2:0.
Despite being down only by two goals, in the third period Riga did not show almost any effort to affect the fate of the game. This was the first shutout for Minsk's goaltender Pekka Rinne.
Since the last fight between the two teams on October 9, Dinamo Riga has played nine games, earning a victory in only two of them. Rumours about the team firing head coach Pekka Rautakallio appeared weeks ago, yet only after today's loss they became as widespread.
