For the bottom side it was only the second win in the last 15 games.
Atlant Moscow Oblast earned a huge surprise win away against the current Gagarin Cup holders Dynamo Moscow by defeating them 5-2. Andreas Engqvist, Fyodor Tyutin and Maxim Mayorov earned a 3-0 lead for Atlant despite their team being heavily outnumbered regarding shots on goal before Janne Jalasvaara brought the favourites onto the scoreboard for the first time at 38:05 with assists by Nicklas Bäckström and Alexander Ovechkin. When everyone expected Dynamo to get the guests under even more pressure in the third, the top team received the 1-4 through Alexander Shevchenko at 41:58. That was also the point where Alexander Sharychenkov substituted Alexei Volkov who had an complete off day. When Dynamo scored their second goal of the day in power play at 54:51 in power play - again with assists by Bäckström and Ovechkin - there was some room for hope left but Nikolai Zherdev made the sensation perfect with an empty netter with six seconds left in regulation.
While Dynamo Moscow stays the second best team of the KHL table, the guests Atlant Moscow Oblast made a jump in the table from the second last to the 6th last position, leaving Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg, Amur Khabarovsk, Spartak Moscow, Dinamo Riga and Vityaz Chekhov behind themselves.
