Super-favourite home team starts campaign with a minimum victory

lonely goal by top-scorer Evgeny Dadonov in the second period gives Donbas Donets'k the first three points in Continental Cup Superfinals. Opponent Metallurg Zhlobin, leader of Belarusian League, showed a perfect defensive organization and it wasn't easy for home team, playing the tournament with full KHL roster, to create chances. On the other side, Metallurg hasn't many opportunity to worry goalie Jan Laco that earns his first shoot-out. After Donbas having clearly dominated the first period and hit the crossbar with Randy Robitaille, the winning goal come at 26:46 with a messy action finalized by Dadonov after a pass from captain Vaclav Nedorost. Metallurg demostrates an offensive sterility and wasn't able to create scoring chances in the last period. Belarusian goalie Dmitri Milchakov confirmed his class stopping 27 shots, 15 only in the first period.
