All 14 teams of Germany's top league played on Friday. Cologne got a real package in Iserlohn but stay league leaders due to Mannheim's loss against Berlin.

When Cologne received Iserlohn on Wednesday they won the top position in the DEL back with a late game winner. Today it was the opposite and Cologne had to travel to Iserlohn. And the Roosters get their revenge. Twice Brandon Rogers, Thomas Holzmann, Christian Hommel, Jeff Giuliano and Mike York scored for the Roosters while the Sharks only managed to get the consolation goal through Moritz Müller. In the end the 6-1 success for Iserlohn might be a bit too high but for them it was extremly important as they defended their pre-playoff spot.

Mannheim had the big chance to take the DEL lead back from Cologne but they lost themselves on home ice against DEL record champions Eisbären Berlin. Michael Glumac opened the score for Mannheim in the first period before Christian Braun and Frank Hördler turned the result around with a double at the end of the first 20 minutes. Around "half time" Ronny Arendt answered for Mannheim before André Rankel restored the guest lead. This one was even increased by Florian Busch at the start of the third period. At 53:33 Michael Glumac only was able to score the 3-4 but Mannheim couldn't avoid the loss anymore.

ERC Ingolstadt defended their top-6 playoff spot with an overtime win against top team Hamburg Freezers. Nicolas Krämmer and David Wolf (2) brought Hamburg in front three times while Robert Sabolic, Patrick Hager and Jared Ross answered for Ingolstadt. At 48:58 Kris Sparre turned the result around completely in favour of Ingolstadt but Mathieu Roy extended the game to overtime at 55:39. After only 73 seconds this one was ended early through Timothy Hambly who won the extra point for Ingolstadt.

In a goal festival EHC Red Bull München kept the contact with the playoff spots when they defated the Krefeld Pinguine on the road with 7-6. The guests from Munich lay already behind 1-3 before they scored four consecutive goals for a 5-3 lead at the start of the third period. Later they had a 6-4 lead before Kyle Sonnenburg and Joshua Meyers even tied the match again for Krefeld. At 54:30 Brent Aubin won the game for Munich with his second of the evening.

The Hannover Scorpions kept their ambitions for a direct quarterfinal qualification alive by beating bottom side Düsseldorfer EG on home ice. The guests went in front through Carl Ridderwall at 16:44 but Gerrit Fauser, Sergej Janzen and Ivan Ciernik answered for Hannover for a 3-1 home win.

In a duel of two teams who currently are on a pre-playoff spot, the Nürnberg Ice Tigers won 6-4 against the Augsburger Panther. The home side was in front 3-0 and 5-1 after the first and the second period before the guests from Augsburg started their race to catch up. In the end Chad Bassen only brought them as close as to a 6-4 loss with his goal at 59:40.

The Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg decided the duel of two bottom sides with a 3-2 home win against the Straubing Tigers and cut the distance to them to four points. Robbie Bina and Grant Lewis scored for their teams for a 1-1 after the first period before Sebastian Furchner and Levi Nelson pathed the way for the home win for Wolfsburg with their strikes in the middle period. At 58:38 Matt Hussey only was able to cut the lead to the half but Wolfsburg kept all three points at home.
