The Elitserien leader Skellefteå fired the coach Anders Forsberg because he already had signed with a new team for next season. With Stefan Klockare, Bert Robertsson and Hans Wallson as coaches Skellefteå continued to win. Tonight Linköping was defeated 5-3.
Linköpings HC - Skellefteå AIK 3 - 5 (0-3, 1-2, 2-0)
Skellefteå's first period was a solid foundation to build the victory on. Melker Karlsson, Joakim Lindström and Petter Emanuelsson scored to make the home team call a time-out at 11:41. Linköping gained momentum in the middle of the second period and scored 1-3 by Johannes Salmonsson. Two minutes later Carl Söderberg missed the opportunity to make it even closer but he missed his penalty shot. Instead Jimmie Ericsson scored 4-1 for the guests will a well placed shot. Adam Pettersson scored 5-1 before the middle period was over. Daniel Grillfors and Pär Arlbrandt scored for Linköping in the third period to give them some hope, but the game ended 3-5. Skellefteå leads the league eight points ahead of Färjestad.
AIK - HV 71 4 - 2 (0-2, 3-0, 1-0)
HV 71 dropped to third place after today's loss to AIK. In the second period AIK won 3-0 to turn a 2-0 deficit after the first period to a lead. Victor Ahlström secured the home win with a goal assisted by his brother Oscar at 58:37.
MODO Hockey - Växjö Lakers HC 4 - 5 (1-1, 1-1, 2-2, 0-0, 0-1)
MODO had a 2-goal lead early in the third period, but Dennis Rasmussen and Kristofer Berglund scored for the visitor to take the game to overtime. No goals were scored there and it had to be decided in shoot-out. Ryan Lasch, Jan Hlavac and Dennis Rasmussen all were successful for Växjö but Hlavac was awarded the wining goal.
Brynäs IF - Timrå IK 3 - 4 (2-1, 0-1, 1-1, 0-0, 0-1)
In his first game for Timrå Radek Smolenak had a key role as he scored the game-winning goal in the shootout. Timrå was close to a rare 3-pointer as Andreas Molinder scored 2-3 at 55:48. But Ryan Gunderson tied if for Brynäs with 1:16 to go.
Färjestads BK - Frölunda HC 3 - 2 (0-1, 1-0, 2-1)
Färjestad climbs to second place in the standings after tonight's win. They were down 1-2 in the last period but Jack Connolly and Marcus Paulsson scored the win the game for the home team.
